David Tennant - Marvel's Jessica Jones David Tennant played the main villain in the Netflix series Marvel's Jessica Jones. David played Kilgrave (who was known as The Purple Man in the comics). The official series description was 'After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City. An enigmatic figure from Jessica�s past, Kilgrave's reappearance will send shockwaves through the former super hero�s world.' In the Marvel comics, Kilgrave could produce pheromones which gave him the power to control people�s minds as long as he was physically nearby. He could also recover from severe injuries very quickly and was, quite literally, purple. However that aspect was not continued in the Netflix series. Marvel's Jessica Jones was a 13 episode series which premiered on Netflix on Friday 20th November 2015. Jessica Jones was played by Krysten Ritter and Mike Coulter played the character Luke Cage. The series was filmed in New York between February and July 2015 and all the episodes were released on Netflix together. The series was released on both DVD and Blu-ray on Monday 5th December 2016 in the UK and on both formats in the US on Tuesday 22nd August 2017. David Tennant also appeared in one episode of the second season of the show which was released worldwide on Netflix on Thursday 8th March 2018. David Tennant's voice can also be heard briefly in the final episode of Marvel's Jessica Jones Season Three which was released worldwide on Netflix in June 2019. .
