Currently this is only a RUMOUR but there was a post today on the What's On Stage forum that David Tennant will appear in Richard II for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2013 in a production directed by Gregory Doran. The rumour was posted to the forum by the same person (PaulTheatre) who was first to post that David and Catherine Tate would be appearing in Much Ado About Nothing last year. Paul has also been the first to post other theatre news so this seems quite likely to be true. Updated 5/12
