Broadcast (behind a paywall) reports that at the halfway point of Broadchurch, it has scored almost 1 million more viewers than ITV’s slot average of 5.3m (23% of those watching television at that time) for the past 12 months.
Broadcast says 'Over its first four parts it has gripped an average audience of 6.2m (25.1%). Despite running below the first series overnight average of 7.1m (28.4%), the ITV drama wrestled back the 9pm slot from Silent Witness which outperformed it last Monday. BBC1’s cerebral drama captured an audience of 5.5m (22.5%) last night, down from the previous Monday’s viewership of 5.9m (23.6%). Silent Witness is averaging 6.1m (25.4%) after seven episodes.'
