David Tennant - Criminal

David Tennant is one of the stars who appears in the new Netflix police interrogation drama Criminal which was released on Friday 20th September 2019.

The series consists of 12 episodes of 45 minutes with three episodes set across each of four countries – France, Spain, Germany and the UK.

The drama takes place exclusively within the confines of a police interview suite. It is described as ‘a stripped down, cat-and-mouse drama that will focus on the intense mental conflict between the police officer and the suspect in question.

The episodes are all in the local language with writing and directors from the individual countries taking charge of the episodes from their countries.

Guest stars in the British episodes include David Tennant, Hayley Atwell, Youssef Kerkour, and Clare-Hope Ashitey. George Kay and Jim Field Smith are the showrunners.

The regular cast in the U.K. includes Katherine Kelly, Lee Ingleby, and Nicholas Pinnock. In France, Margot Bancilhon, Laurent Lucas, and Stéphane Jobert are among the regulars and in Germany it’s Eva Meckbach, Sylvester Groth, and Florence Kasumba, while in Spain the regulars include Jorge Bosch, José Ángel Egido, and Nuria Mencía.

In France the guest stars includes Nathalie Baye and Jérémie Renier and in Germany Peter Kurth and Christian Berkel. The Spanish episodes will have Carmen Machi and Inma Cuesta guesting.

All 12 episodes were filmed at Netflix’s production hub at Ciudad de la Tele in Madrid.

David Tennant has been nominated for the Best Actor Award for Deadwater Fell in the long-list of the 24th TV Choice Awards.
Also Criminal, Deadwater Fell and Good Omens are nominated for the Best New Drama Award.
Plus Spy In The Wild has been nominated for the Best Factual Show Award.
