David Tennant - The Politician's Husband

David Tennant starred in The Politician's Husband on BBC Two which was broadcast starting on Thursday 25th April 2013.

Emily Watson played his wife and Lucy Hutchinson (who appeared in Prometheus) played his daughter. Ed Stoppard was also in the drama which aired as three one hour programmes.

It was produced by Mentorn-owned Daybreak Pictures to air on BBC Two. Lucy Richer was the executive produce for the BBC alongside David Aukin for Daybreak. Hal Vogel produced the drama. The director was Simon Cellan Jones and the writer was Paula Milne.

The synopsis is:
"The Politician's Husband is a drama exploring what happens in a political marriage when the wife becomes more successful than her husband.
Aiden Hoynes, a senior Cabinet Minister, is happily married to Freya, a junior Minister who has consistently put her own career ambitions on hold for the sake of Aiden's career and their family.
When Aiden's career path to the top echelons comes to an abrupt halt, the power balance within his marriage is irrevocably shifted as he witnesses his wife's political career soar.
In his desperation to cling to power, Aiden risks destroying everything he holds most dear.

The Telegraph lists The Politician's Husband in its Culture and Arts Things To See in April. It says that it will air from Monday 22nd April. If that is correct then it means that the first episode of The Politician's Husband will broadcast on the day of the final episode of Broadchurch. If The Politician's Husband is similar to The Politician's Wife then it will have to be in a post 9pm watershed slot. Hopefully BBC Two will broadcast it at 10pm and not 9pm which is the broadcast time for Broadchurch! Updated 31/3

Tickets are now on sale to the general public for the Q & A with writer Paula Milne at the BFI in London on 24th September which will include clips of The Politician's Husband. Updated 21/8

There are chances to see clips of two new David Tennant projects before they are released. On Monday 24th September at the British Film Institute on the South Bank in London, there is a screening of all three parts of A Politician's Wife. There will be a Q and A with the writer Paula Milne which will be "illustrated by clips from her past work and her eagerly awaited follow-up, The Politician’s Husband."
On Wednesday 10th October at 2pm writer of Nativity 2: Danger In The Manger Debbie Isitt will make an appearance at the Christian Resource Exhibition (CRE) at Event City, Manchester and will show clips of the movie. Updated 19/8

The Star newspaper from the Sheffield area has an interview with Jack Shepherd in which he speaks about Shakespeare, acting and working with David Tennant on The Politician's Husband. Jack plays David's father in the three part drama. Updated 4/8

Following our post yesterday morning about David Tennant appearing in The Politician's Husband for the BBC, yesterday David Tennant attended both the read-through and a photo shoot for the drama. The other known cast members are Emily Watson who will play his wife and Lucy Hutchinson (who appeared in Prometheus) who will play his daughter. Ed Stoppard is also in the drama which will air as three one hour shows in 2013. Updated 10/6
